XP: Lead poisoning

FWIW: I posted this on 24 + and got no responses at all so I hope that there's someone here who can help me. 

My 20 month old niece was diagnosed this week with lead poisoning.  Her level is 16 and the acceptable range is under 10, although they stress that no level is really OK.  My poor SIL is obviously very upset and trying to figure out the source but I hear they are going to be assigning a case worker to this since it can cause so many issues.  They are having an investigator over to the house to test all the areas that could have lead, they live in an old house in the south.  My niece has always been on the smaller side and she's getting words a bit late, only just learning to say bye-bye but I haven't heard if they think the two are related.  I've googled it and obviously scared myself about it so was looking for more real life experiences with it.   Any one have experience with this or know anyone who's been through this and what were the outcomes of the little ones.  TIA

oh no! someone on here DID have high levels... i can't remember who it was though. maybe if you repost on monday you'll have a better shot at getting responses. i'm so sorry. hopefully they'll figure it all out!
