Soft soled shoes until they walk...

DS cruises well, stands on his own and will take the odd step when he's not thinking abouit it. I still have him in soft-soled shoes. Should I switch yet?

until they walk and for a while after, until they are very steady on their feet.

I personally didn't put shoes on my son till he was walking good. When he got good balance and started walking faster I put a pair of regular shoes on him from Target. He loves putting on his shoes now and going outside. Before that he mostly went with just socks on.
