Shopping cart problems

Now that my daughter is 1.5 she doesn't want to be in a cart AT ALL. She will sit in the back for very short periods but then wants to get down and run. She will scream a high pitched squeal and try and climb out. It just isn't pleasant shopping any longer! My first daughter was so much better at shopping...still is:)

Any tips as I know I am not alone?

Re: Shopping cart problems

  • Find something to entertain her?  DS is usually good, but gets antsy by the end, so I give him something frozen and he'll chew on it and play with it and it keeps him occupied while we check out.
  • Loading the player...
  • I usually find something for him to hold. Or I hand him things and have him put them in the back of the cart. I also will use the stroller or ergo if we have just a few things to purchase. If all else fails I give him his snack trap and sippy of water.
  • Thanks gals. My other thing is that I just love the looks I get when she tries to stand in the back or begins to squeal:) I think the suggestion of giving her a task of putting things in the cart is a good one, I will try that next time!
