bike trailers

I want to get a bike trailer to ride around with the boys, so obviously I need one that seats 2 kids.  I like to ride, but I'm all about sidewalks/road not off-roading.

Any recs??  I don't want to spend a ton of money as I am not sure the kids will like it.  I am also interested in one that converts to a stroller.

Thanks!

  • We've got an InStep.  Works great.  We also use it as a double stroller too when my niece is here.
  • I have a Chariot Cougar that I adore! Pricey but worth it. You have to buy the attachments separately, so that might not be something you want. But we use ours every day, so it was a great investment. There is a cycling attachment, jogging attachment, strolling attachment, skiing attachment, and hiking attachment.

ETA: My bike has hardware attached from the cycling attachment that allows me to easily attach and detach the trailer quickly. The strolling wheels can be placed on the trailer and left on - they just slide right up when you have the cycling or other attachments on. The pack in the back has a velcro strap area for the jogging wheel.

  • I have a Burley Solo, we really like it.  A Solo probably wouldn't be the best choice for you since it has a lower weight limit.  We got ours at a second hand sports store and got an awesome deal on it.  I also see them all the time on CL.  When we test drove/ looked at them I found you got a much better ride in the more expensive ones.  Also with the Burley's you can buy something you attach to your bike so it takes like 30 secs to hook it up to your bike.
  • We were just looking at this one about an hour ago at Sports Authority. I think we are going to get it this weekend.
