Pre-school-How inconvenient!

I don't get it, all the pre-schools that I'm looking at let out at exactly the same time as Kindergarten.  How am I supposed to manage that when I have one in each?!?!  If they'd just make it 20 minutes earlier/later it would be no prob.  So now the only option is to put my youngest in the long day program which I don't want to do and it's an extra $80/month.  Initially I thought about not sending her to pre-school at all next year but I really want to be able to volunteer in my oldest dd's classroom.  Ugh!

  • Is there any flexibility?  Could you pick up 20 minutes early on a regular basis?  Maybe during their "typical day" they're doing free play at the end and it wouldn't be that big of a deal.  Couldn't hurt to ask.

  • We ran into that too so that's one of the big reasons we chose the preschool that is in the elementary school.

  • Ditto the above. Our preschool gets out at 12:30, but you can pay an extra $5 per day for additional 30 minutes (or it might be an hour - I'm not certain).
  • I am going to have the same problem next year.  My plan right now is to be the first in the pick-up line at DS's school, drive 15 minutes to DD's school and be the last in the pick-up line.  If that doesn't work then DS will stay at extended day which is only $3 per day so not a big deal.
  • The extended day at our current pre-school is $12/day!  It would be cheaper just to do the long days.  I guess I could tour the one closest to my oldest dd's school and then if we like it ask about flexibility.
  • Well that sucks!  Our school's preschool lets out 20 minutes before the elementary school let's out and they are located in the same building.
