High-Risk Pregnancy

BH or Contractions?

I honest to God can't tell the difference.  If I hadn't had the episode in the hospital with preterm labor already this pregnancy (and now bedrest) I would completely right this off as BH.  I've had lower back cramping for days now, diarrhea, and on again/off again BH/contrax...

It isn't painful but I hate not knowing one from the other.  I have read everything on the differences on the net and it is really not helpful.

Just venting...the call to the nurse has already been made just waiting on a response.

Re: BH or Contractions?

  • unfortunately, there's no real way to tell the difference unless you have your cervix checked.

  • It's very frustrating! ?I'm new to all this so I don't have any advice. ?Last night was my 1st night of bed rest at home & I went from having them occasionally to a little more than 1 an hour. ?Now they are slowing down again. ?The contractions don't bother me as much as not knowing if I'm dilating more than I was.?
  • Went in for an NST and check.  Of course when I get hooked up there were no contractions but my cervix is 1.5 cm dilated.  We decided to up my procardia dosage and see if that helps control the changes then if not we'll take the next step.  The nurse did say that as of tomorrow (34 weeks) that they would not stop the labor if it started.

I scheduled my induction for 4/9 assuming my amnio on 4/8 shows mature lungs.
