1st Bday Cake ideas

My son is turning 1 in two months and we're planning a laid back potluck/bbq (H's family is very large) at a local park with a play area for the other children.  We don't have a theme but I did want the cake to be something special and memorable.  Anyone have any ideas?  Menu ideas would be helpful too if anyone has easy suggestions...

    I would just do what ever your LO likes - it is their birthday (ie: if their favorite toy is the sofie - maybe make a giraffe cake). 

    Also, make sure you have a back-up plan or that you have a covered area at the park in case of rain.
