Okay, so the big "theory" now is that MIB is the devil, Jacob is God, and Richard is Jesus. I think this makes sense based on the interaction/relationship we saw between Jacob and Richard with Jacob kind of guiding Richard.
I'm confused, though, whether the island is or isn't hell? MIB said they're all dead but Jacob said they're not... since Richard ended up "choosing" Jacob's side, why does he believe MIB that they are dead? Was this a sudden change of heart after Jacob's death or did he believe MIB all along?
Also, I also don't think I'm buying the hell explanation. Didn't they say the four letter word had an "o" in it?
Re: Losties - theory (spoiler)
I'm thinking the Island is like a purgatory of sorts-an in between place. It's a place where once certain people die they have 1 more chance to prove whether they are "evil" and should go to hell or if they are "good" and should go to heaven.
Everyone has sinned once in their life, but their sins are sort of "explainable" or could maybe be viewed as not completely evil. So maybe this is a second chance for those that land on the island?
great minds think alike!
one of the local radio stations where I live had the directors on their show adn they promised that the island was not purgatory. So maybe it really is hell and that is why the MIB cannot or should not leave. This way, all his evil will stay on the island.
The island isn't hell. They explained that it's like a cork keeping the evil in hell. I guess that would make it sort of like Purgatory but not really.
Richard told Jack and the rest that they were in hell because he was frustrated at the fact that Jacob was now dead and he felt that everything he had told him was a lie. After speaking to his wife through Hurley, I think he's back on Jacob's side.
Except Richard also told them that "we're all dead." This could be taken literally or I wondered if he meant it figuratively like "we're all doomed." I feel like they threw the "the island is hell and everybody is dead" idea on us last night just to throw us for a loop since this has been a common theory from the start. I think there's got to be more.
I thought this was a big theory at the beginning of the series, but the writers all kept saying that definitely was not the case.
the thought has crossed my mind.
