How to stop habitual waking?

What worked for you?  DS wakes at midnight every night.  He won't take a pacifier.

I think the Baby Whisperer books suggests the "wake-to-sleep" method to break the habit? I don't know much about it, but I think it involves waking them up before their "habitual" wake-up to break the cycle...

  • I also read that.  They said to go in the room  1/2 hour before the time they usually wake and pat them awake, but not alert.  I guess it restarts their sleep cycle.

My thing is when we feed him he seems like he is starving, but right before bedtime he has 12 ounces of formula and sweet potatoes...there is no way he can be hungry!!!

You give him 12 ounces at once?  Maybe he has a bellyache.

That is a LOT of food right before bed.  DD takes 5 oz and a couple tbsp oatmeal, but that is spread over an hour before she goes to sleep.  DD wakes at least 5 times a night right now (one of the wakings she is up for 1-2 1/2 hrs to play) and we are going to end up doing Ferber.  I've tried the no-cry methods and it's not helping for her.  Worked wonders for naps, but not at night.

This!!  Try feeding him less and see if he sleeps better.

I was thinking that is the problem, but what would you suggest.  His bottle time is 6pm.  He gets 7oz then.  And then we always gave him a bottle at bedtime.  It was 7 oz and I am trying to get him off of it, so we are down to 5 now.  What would you suggest we do???  We give him sweet potatoes at 5:30.
