Gifts that aren't your style?

What to do? MIL gave us a cute outfit for DS but it's so not our style. We figure he'll wear it for Easter when we're with them then pass it along. What do you do with clothes gifts for your LO that you don't like?

  • Keep him in his drawers until

    a) we see the people who gave it to him,

    b) we run out of clean laundry.

  • MIL gives us the ugliest stuff ever. Clothes I donate to Goodwill. Other stuff I stick in his closet. We'll be moving in the next year, so I'll get rid of it then. We won't have room for it. Wink

    Yes

  • I return them and buy something else.

  • save them for when you know he'll have a blowout lol.
  • I just have her wear them when we're at home and not going anywhere that day.

  • This is why we usually say no clothing for gifts. DD has tonnes of clothing that we got at Mom to Mom sales and from a friend so she doesn't need any anyway.

  • MIL got us a crapload of clothes from a garage sale last summer.  I have no problem with clothes from a garage sale/Mom2Mom, but some of them were so worn looking or just not my style.  The stuff that was nicer but not my style I put aside for resale at a Mom2Mom, and the other stuff I sneak into the donate pile.

New stuff that I don't love? They wear it anyway, but not usually when we're going out.  I figure, I've got it, might as well use it.  One more day when I can put off laundry . . . unless it's got tags still.  Some times I re-gift. Embarrassed

    Yes

    This.

Though a co-worker gave me a bunch of hand me downs that he didn't want back. So I weeded through them and donated the outfits I didn't want.
