WDYT... gagging/vomitting = overfeeding?

DD has started this gagging thing where you know it's coming... and then vomit starts flying everywhere. It started with choking a little on a little chunk of banana that wasn't mashed enough... next time it happened was when I introduced meat, another new texture... this morning, no texture, but she had the face, and then sure enough vomit. Do you think this is her way of telling me she's full? I'm going to try giving her smaller portions, although I haven't changed the amount of food I've given her in more than a month...

WDYT?

  • Maybe she's not ready to be eating all that solid food yet...even though you might be. :)

that would be my guess too... except she's been eating all this solid food since 4 months and hasn't had a problem. the doctor said her eating schedule/intake is perfect for her size/development. I definitely don't push the solid food thing, never have. This is just so out of the blue and frustrating to have her throwing up. It doesn't happen every day, or every other day, it's kind of random.

  • Why don't you try smaller, more mashed up pieces. She probably hasn't gotten the hang of chewing and swallowing such lasrge pieces. M just started on non purees recently and I have to make the pieces itty bitty.

sorry I didn't make this clear... after the mashed banana incident, we went back to strictly purees, I'll try more texture in a few weeks again. This morning was just cereal and applesauce... not sure why she threw up so bad.

  • oh gotcha. I know with M she won't eat when she is full. Some babies just have strong gag reflexes. Last week she gagged on something, threw up and immediately continued on her mum mum. gross.

B usually doesn't either, but it's the only explanation I can come up with. O well. Thanks for responding :-) and that is kinda gross, haha.
