Hey Ladies! I also posted this on third tri, but I realized this might be a better place for it.
I have the Medela PISA, which I haven't opened yet because I know you can't return it if its been opened. My question is, I keep reading about needing all of these additional supplies and replacing the tubing, etc. Does the pump have information about that inside the box? Do you have to take it apart and sterilize all the parts each time you use it? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I'm just trying to understand what else if anything I need to buy to be ready to use it. Thanks!
Re: XP: Breast Pump
I have the PISA. It comes with everything you need. I wash everything that comes in contact with milk after each use and rinse it with scolding hot water.
When you first put it together you will probably want to sterilize all the parts first.
I have the Medela PISA as well. It comes with two tubes, bottles, shields, storage bag for bottles and cold pack. I had to buy new shields because the standard size did not fit me. I also purchased additional bottles (conversion kit to pump into Playtex drop ins). They also have microwave sterilizer bags you can purchase, but I just use our microwave sterilizer to clean pump parts (excluding tubing).
To answer your question - you will not need to buy any additional items to use it right out of the box if it is brand new.
