I read that post but never got around to replying, so I'll put a quick reply here. I consider my induction to be pretty "textbook".
1) When and why? 40w4d, due to low amniotic fluid
2) How did it go? Great. Went in the night before for cervidil, but they had to remove it at about 4am, because it was causing Logan's heartrate to randomly drop. It didn't do anything to progress me (other than efface me the last 20%) so pitocin was started at about 7:45 am. It worked right away, water broke on its own around 10, I was at 5cm by 11, got the epi at 11:45, 10cm at 2pm but he was still stationed a little high so I opted to let the cx's move him down until I couldn't stand it anymore. Started pushing just after 3, he was out at 4:11
3) Did you have any progress on your own prior to? 1cm, 80% effaced
(my full birth story is in my profile, if you're interested) Good luck - I'm so excited and happy for you!
