I worked until the bitter end with DD, I was at work one day and not the next becasue I was induced.
Personally I didn't mind becasue it allowed me all the time I could take at home with her after she was born. Plus I would have gone nuts sitting at home because you never know when the baby is going to come, and I would have hated to go out at 39 weeks and miss 3 weeks at home with DD.
I'll be going when the baby comes or when my doctor says I should. I want to work as much as possible so I can have all my maternity leave for when LO gets here!!

I don't know that there is a "one size fits all" answer here. From my personal experience, I worked up until Friday, and was induced that Sunday. So technically my leave started the day he was born. I wanted to have as much leave available after DS was born, instead of wasting it before.
I'm going out 3 weeks before my due date this time. With DD, I went out 4 weeks before. I'm going out 3 weeks before this time because my parents, who take care of DD full time are going on a 2 week vacation before LO arrives so I'll be home to take care of DD.

I just don't want to put my baby at risk being that this is my first one.
Depending on your line of work, I don't think it's necessarily more danger to continue working up through your due date. You can always check with your doctor to get his/her OK.
I know lots of women who have worked until the due date.. some even went into labor at work.

Curious what your line of work is now if you think working puts your baby at risk? I'm thinking of all these odd-ball things... like maybe she's a high-rise window washer!
