Has anyone tried it?? and how far along were you whent the class started? I'm thinking of taking a class, and will be just about 20 weeks when it starts. I know there's not a certian point when you can and can't take it but I just don't want to be the least pregnant girl in the class, and I also didnt know how beneficial it would be. I am haveing some back pain so I figured it might help but who knows!

Re: Prenatal Yoga
My friend started taking it somewhere around 12 weeks, so I'm sure there will be less pregnant women than you.
I love my weekly yoga class. I'm just in my regular class and my instructor is adjusting for me, but I wish there was a prenatal option around here.
It helps a ton for me with the tightness of my belly muscles and my lower back and hip pain.

I'm wearing Liz Lange's ribbed tanks from Target and still rocking my pre-pg yoga pants from Victoria's Secret. They fold over, so I just roll that part up over the bump. I hope they work for a while longer!
Most prenatal yoga becomes necessary after the 1st trimester because some traditional yoga positions aren't permitted.
You should be fine.
I still go occasionally to my regular yoga classes but there are a number of positions I can't do and I use my prenatal yoga/pilates DVD a couple of times a week. Both are helpful but I'm sure a class specifically designed for pregnant women would be even better.
Have fun!

I have been going to a prenatal yoga class once a week on saturdays since is was about 14 weeks, there are moms in the class who are sitting around 38 weeks right now and they still can do every move that gets dished out. It's very tailored to the fact that we now have a big bump in the way soo I say take the class and just stop when you feel your body wants you too. Although I find it completely safe to take right up until before birth, they do not make you do anything you can't and find good modifications for moves that you may have been able to do at 20 or 30 weeks but now can't. PLUS because of pregnancy your actually more flexible in your last trimesters because your ligaments are loosening for birth! so keep this in mind when you think you may even be too big to touch your toes
I definitely recommend a prenatal yoga class no matter how far along you are. I think you'd be surprised by the turn out of a class and the different variations of how far along people are.
I'm not sure how much leg lifting, etc. you'd do in a prenatal class, but I have to make sure my pants are tight around the thighs so they don't slide down and show too much skin.
I'd be leery of gaucho-style pants. Capri yoga pants rock, though.
