2nd Trimester

Small amount of bright red blood...

For the past couple hours, when I've gone to the bathroom, I've noticed a small amount of bright red blood when I wipe. I have a call into the doc's office, and am waiting for them to call me back, but PLEASE ease my mind.

Anyone else have this and it turn out to be nothing? I feel him bumping around in there right now, but I'm still really scared.

(On a different note, why do I have to call and LEAVE A MESSAGE for my doc?? Why can't I just freakin' talk to a nurse or someone?!?!)

Re: Small amount of bright red blood...

  • A friend of mine had some freak red bleeding at 24wks which turned out to be nothing... she had a healthy baby in September.  HTH, good luck!

  • I am right there with ya.....I passed a small blood clot and some red blood on Saturday and freaked!  For me - it turned out to be nothing serious so try and relax as much as you can for now.  From what my doc told me - the cervix is still soft and any irritation can cause some minor bleeding.

Having said that - you absolutely should confirm with your doc to be sure.  Better to know.  Good luck - sending really positive thoughts your way!

  • Yes. I JUST had this last week. For no reason at all I started spotting some bright red blood... it actually lasted for 5 days. I called my OB and he said as long as baby is active, you aren't going through more than a pad/hour and you aren't cramping with it, it should be fine.

Also, I don't know if you've had relations lately, but any kind of "trauma" to the cervix can cause bleeding and easily. Sometimes those things are so sensitive. But, I felt my LO continue to move and bounce around as if he was trying to tell me he was just fine.. but, of course, wait and see what your Dr wants you to do. GL :)

  • Ive been spotting on and off but pretty regularly from week 6 onwards. Last week i had a lot of bright red bleeding after going to the washroom. i freaked out and went to ER followed by a dr. apt a few days later. Both ER dr and OB said everything looks fine. They confirmed that cervix was very sensitive and these things can happen. Have it checked out but i wouldnt worry until youre told you have to. Good luck!
