2nd Trimester

bringing home baby!

Question. What size outfit would (will) you take to the hospital? I just got a ton of brand new nb clothes from my sisters friend and they look so itty bitty. My husbands family and my mom are both notorious for delivering atleast 9 lb. babies! help. Need ideas! Thanks.

If you knew how lonely my life has been And how long I've been so alone And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along And change my life the way you've done

Re: bringing home baby!

  • I think nb clothes are good up to 12 pounds, so you're probably ok to bring those.

  • This is my first baby so I have no practical experience, but I did buy a newborn outfit (said for 5 - 8 pounds) to bring him home.  I will probably take a back up 3 month outfit just in case he's a little on the larger side.
  • Newborn outfit...unless you think you're going to have an 11lb-er.
  • I'm not having a special going home outfit, well cause honestly no one is goign to see her cause we are just going home lol.. but i'll pack nb and 0-3 just in case

I will take a preemie and a newborn outfit just to be sure I have something that fits!
  • I don't know. However my mother in law gave me 6 month old clothes and told me that all my husband could fit in when he was born. Trust me, i'm terrified.
  • Probably a preemie & a NB outfit.  DD was in her preemie clothing for two months!  I took a NB outfit for her & she looked ridiculous in it.  The arms & legs were seriously quadruple rolled.

  • We'll be taking a newborn and 0-3 months just in case..
  • Why don't you take a few choices so you are covered either way..

My DS came home in a t-shirt that the hospital gave him...so boring, but he was comfy and nobody was even going to see him.

  • Mine is from Carter's and nb size says up to 8lb...I was tiny, but DH was an 8lb baby so to be safe, I went with 3mo size. Plus, hopefully he can wear it once or twice more before he outgrows it :( I'll be saving that one for sure though!

  • I am taking a NB and an outfit fitted 0-3 months. I think NB outfits are only fitted up to 8lbs. At least from what I have seen :)

  • my daughter was 9 pounds and the 0-3 outfit we had was HUGE on her.  I would go with newborn
  • I'm not being snarky when I ask this, but why stress about it? Bring NB and 0-3 month along as well. DD was 6lbs 13oz and needed preemie size for a while once we got home. I will be taking NB, because if it's a little big, who is really going to mind?

  • We aren't even buying any NB sizes for this reason. LO's first outfits will be the 0-3 month size that go up to like 12 pounds.

We make big babies in my family.

  • just take one of each preemie nb and 0-3 of your favorite outfits that way all your bases are covred!
  • I take a preemie and a newborn.newborn one are sometime to big and preemies fit just right
  • I'm going to take a preemie and newborn too. My first was 7lbs 11oz (totally average size), and all I brought for him was a one-piece from Gap that was size newborn,  It was too big! Not crazy big but I had to roll up the arms and legs a few times still. Newborns are so tiny!
