s/o St. Paddy's Day festivities

Anyone else here not a drinker? I mean, I have a drink very occasionally, but more often than not, I don't. I don't like liquor and stick mostly to beer (except for champagne - I'll always make an exception for champagne!). I can only ever really have one drink and then I feel tipsy. I've pretty much been that way my entire drinking career. LOL.

So, by default, I always end up the DD for whatever group is going out. No biggie. But I was just curious if I was the only non-drinker around here.

ETA: Of course, this excludes you preggo ladies. But even when I was pregnant, I had a glass of wine at Valentine's and champagne at New Year's. So I'm no teetotaler. :)

I totally get this. I cannot party like I used to. At all. It's kinda depressing when you're really gunning for a night out.

  • I'm a big drinker, I love me some drinks, many drinks....can't handle them at all any more but I still love them and I've been on a bit of a bender for the last month or so because it is the first time in 3 years I haven't been pregnant or nursing so I've been enjoying myself.  BUT.....I've noticed that I can't even stay up late (without drinking) and feel OK.  When I have a wedding, I'm typically on my feet for an entire day and usually don't get home until after midnight and the next day I want to die.  I didn't have a single sip of a drink but I feel "hungover" it is awful!  "Old" age is sad.

This almost exactly.  Except I'm not a wedding coordinator, but same thing.  I go in phases w/ drinking.  Sometimes I'll have a glass of wine w/ dinner but more often than not I don't.  Now that I work from home and do a lot of it at night after the girls are in bed I hardly ever have a drink during the week.

I'll share this terrible story from last weekend.  DH and I went to dinner w/ some friends and split a bottle of wine.  I had a little over 2 glasses.  I have a relatively high tolerance for alcohol so I was fine.  Maybe a tad tipsy but by NO means drunk.  He and I decided to go over to a little bistro near our house after dinner and have a nightcap and dessert.  I ordered a Chocolate Martini and OMG it was seriously delicious.  SO good.  So I had one more.  I don't remember feeling super drunk.  As a matter of fact, I don't remember anything at freaking all.  SO scary, and SO glad I was with my husband.  The terrible part is I didn't even pass out, I just blacked out part of my night.  That scares me to pieces.  Back in the day 3 glasses of wine and 2 vodka drinks would have absolutely not have affected me that way.  So I don't know if my tolerance has just gone down or what but needless to say, I won't be having that combo of drinks ever again!!

Ditto this...I enjoy a nice glass of wine (or 2 Huh?

I hate beer (always have) and I like frozen fru-fru drinks too

  • I'm always the DD, always have been. I may have a beer or glass of wine when we are out on the weekends but, my days of rockstar dancing on the tables is long gone. I used to enjoy being silly but, something about getting olde and the hangover thing just don't appeal anymore.

Our company in town right now is Jackson's godfather. We went to collage together near Savannah. We were all laughing about the St Patty's days past in Savannah. B and Drew were saying last night. By ten am three years ago we were all on our third Irish Car Bomb. Yikes. Not tonight.Tonight we are going out to eat with a friend for her birthday down here and home early.

  • Yeah, I'm the exact same way! Even half a glass of wine makes me get all sick feeling. I'll have a beer every now and then, but really would rather have a plain old coca-cola.

  • too many margaritas = baby #2

We were trying, but were supposed to take 2 months off for Christmas, New Years, and our big anniversary trip. Well, the first month in a year of not trying + a few margaritas = pregnant!  Go figure.

I'm not a big drinker, but I enjoy a few cocktails every once in a while when not pg/bf.

  • lmao kristen!  that is how we made Finn, Halloween, oh my!

  • LMAO at HEather..I am also a big drinker and love me some drinks.  I am Irish and German so of course I like beer, any kind, ales, lagers...whatever...well except Heinkin...yuk.  I also like wine. Here is another sad part of aging.....If I have a glass of red wine or even 2 beers, my face gets all flushed and bright red.....Never used to happen.  I most certainly can't party like I used to and the hangover is SO not worth it.  I don't drink alot of liquor as it really hits me fast

Happy St Pat's Day, time for a guiness!

  • I rarely drink. Every time I do, I get sick or get a migraine. I miss the relaxed and giddy feelings a few drinks can provide but the feelings afterward are not worth it. :)

  • Once in a blue moon I'll enjoy a drink, but it's usually around the holidays.  I actually had a drink this past Friday and Saturday which is so unusual for me.  Two drinks are my limit because I start to feel sick and I hate that feeling so I usually just don't drink at all.
