Hi girls -
Looking for some advice here. I have a friend that has been inviting me to her "parties" for years. You know the kind - first she was selling Partylite Candles, then she'd host parties for other friends selling jewelry or makeup, etc. Now, she just sent me an email invitation for a "chocolate spa" party.
To be quite honest, I HATE these things. I never ever ever ask her to buy anything from me and she has been getting my $$ for YEARS and NEVER just invites me over to just hang out - only invitations for parties.
So - I have rsvp'd "no" to the evite and my question is, do I send her a polite email just letter her know that I'm not really into these parties, but to have fun anyway? Or do I just continue to not show up and let it go?
TIA!!!
Re: "parties" (npgr) - long
a) I want to know WTF a "chocolate spa" party is.
b) I would just RSVP no, and not offer a reason to her. No need.
c) I hate when friends do this. Once in awhile is no biggie, but when it is the ONLY thing they ever call you about, that is obnoxious.
d) I would also beware any showers she invites you to. Some baby showers/wedding showers have been known to spring Pampered Chef or Tupperware on you "for the new mom" or "for the bride". Blergh. Though I do want a Tupperware shape sorter in the worst way.
I follow a blog called "The Simple Dollar." He posted an article about the same problem not too long ago. I have to say I agree with his plan.

I wouldn't feel bad about if if I were you...if your friend gets mad that you're not going to the party...they're not much of a friend.
