2nd Trimester

is anyone else not doing maternity pics?

I really do not think I am going to do these, I am anxious to get professional pics done when our little man arrives, but my weekly bump pictures are more than enough for meSmile

Re: is anyone else not doing maternity pics?

  • I'm not doing any kind of pics until after the baby is born.  I just don't want my picture taken at all right now (and that includes bump pics).

  • Not me!  I don't like posed photos, and I think there are ton other things I could do with that money.

  • Probably not...
  • I've been doing them the whole time. Just me and my lovely digital camera timer. I look up ideas online and try to do something similar. I will have a friend take some of me and SO in April though, but still with my digital camera and wherever/whatever I feel like at that time.  I think its a great opportunity to photograph us with the baby before she's born, but I wouldn't pay hundreds of dollars to have a professional do it.

  • Not me. I am not a huge fan of posed family photos. I would rather have a friend take cute candid shots if anything.

  • I'm the exact same way.  Maternity pics are sometimes very pretty, but what do you actually DO with them?  I mean, I'm not gonna display it on the mantle.  :)

  • I'm still undecided, but I'm leaning towards no. I don't feel that these pics are necessary.

  • i am on the fence. i normally would never do them but since i am on bedrest there are no pics other than the ones i take in the mirror weekly and am now thinking about it.

LOL I can just imagine an 8 x 10 on the mantle with my huge belly for all guests to see!

  • I don't know if I want to. My MIL is very persistant that I should just let my FIL take them. I wanted to cute ones with the belly showing and all that jazz but I got the curse of the stretch marks so that wouldn't make for cute pictures and I wouldn't want them out for other people to see. I think I might just stick with my weekly pics I take with my cell phone lol.

  • I think professional maternity pictures are a little odd, so no, I definitely won't be doing them.

I'm with you... At this point maternity pics are not important to me at all. Once LO is born, she can have baby pics.

  • I'm glad this was posted. I never really understood the professional maternity pics thing. I mean I like to take my own "bump" pictures to keep track, but I definitely do not want to pay money for them and I have no idea what you would do with them either. Glad to see I'm not the only one!

  • Just because they're professional pictures, doesn't mean they're posed.  I had some family pictures done at a local park last May/June and they're gorgeous.  One or two were posed, but the majority were candid shots.  With a pro, you get proper lighting and excellent composition and post-processing as well.

I'm getting maternity pictures done, and the whole family will be involved, as they'll double as our family pictures for this year (just with more pictures of me/my belly in them).

What will we do with them?  Frame them, scrap book them, post them on FB.

  • I might do some of my own (I'm a Photographer), but nothing fancy.  I'm waiting for LO to get here and then I plan on splurging big time for really nice photos.  This is our last baby (we think) so I'm excited to get some really nice pictures of the "whole family".

I prefer baby pictures over pictures of me anyway (I hate having my photo taken).

This.  I have no interest.  I snapped one of myself, that's it so far.

  •  I wasn;t going to , but my friend who is a photographer said she wanted to do them for me as part of my shower gift> She is natrually talented and is looking for a way to expand her portfolio. So  normally I would be not doing the pictures.
  • I'm not.  I don't even know what I'd do with them.  It's not like I'm going to hang it on my wall or anything.

  • I went to someone's house once and they had a picture from their daughter's maternity shoot. She had this black robe on and it was pulled off shoulder, boobs covered, but belly exposed, and then one of her legs sticking out. It was a super "sexy" photo - and they had it hanging on their wall in their living room!!!! I guess that's what some people do with them... Yikes!!! Not for me! Not opposed to candid-like photos, fully-dressed, with me and hubby. But, not sure if we'll even do that. My sister's a photographer and if we see her before the baby's born - I'm sure we'll do some . But I don't think I'd actually pay to have them done.
  • Me. I'm also avoiding the weekly bump pics. Memories are good enough for me.
  • There will be no professional maternity pics for me.  That would just be one more thing to add into an already breaking budget.

  • I would absolutely never consider maternity pics.  I am overweight to begin with and I swell up when I'm pregnant!

    This.

  • DH and I are doing maternity photos but we found a really good deal where the photographer will do a maternity session and a newborn session for half the price of one.  The only reason I am interested in documenting this is b/c my parents recently moved houses and during the process my father threw ALL of my sister and I's baby pictures, my moms pregnancy pictures that she took with us AND our baby books away.  I am devastated and will do anything to make sure that my LO when he wants will have these to look at.Granted some of the ones I have seen can be a little creepy but I have researched them and know that poses that I do and do not want and the majority of them will be candid, Hopefully I will not regret it!  Big Smile
  • Lordy, I'm not even taking pictures of the bump - I didn't even know so many people did professional shoots!  I will take one pr two pictures of the belly when it's a decent size with my own camera, but that's really a gift to the LO - when I was little, I loved seeing pictures of my mom with her baby bump.  Personally, I'd prefer not to have any pictures of me until after the baby is here.
