Speaking of strollers..WWYD?

I am staying away from big, heavy and bulky. I want to get the infant seat, snap-n-go and can't decide between a jogger or lightweight medium stroller. Does anyone have both? Is there a lightweight good jogger? Is the jogger versatile (to use in stores)?

Re: Speaking of strollers..WWYD?

  • what are you going to use the jogger  for? if you are just doing day to day I'd just go with a good umbrella. If I had to do all over again I'd do what you have stated  and just get the McClaren Quest as my stroller of use.

I think most of the joggers are pretty heavy (compared to the regular strollers).

  • I have the same question about the versatility of the jogging stroller!  They seem so big and pointy to me.  I'm interested to hear what people say...
  • As this is my first, I'm probably not the best to answer. But we picked out the Combi Cosmo EX this weekend after riding it around the store for an hour or so :) It's so lightweight and easy to break down.

  • I've heard great things about the Baby Jogger City Mini which seems to be a good mix between jogger/lightweight.

Keep in mind that this stroller is NOT to be used for jogging.

  • If you really plan to jog/run with the stroller than I would say that you need both.  Good jogging strollers for running have a stationary front wheel (doesn't swivel).  This adds a lot of stability when running but is a pain in the a@@ when trying to move around the aisles of a store.
  • MH and I wanted a jogger for when we go running and I really don't want to get another regular stroller for the store unless the jogger isn't versatile enough because it seems pointless to have two strollers.

Thanks for the tips and cute stroller!

I was afraid of that. lol.

So, it's good not to get a swivel front wheel when jogging? I thought it would be better. This is good to know.

From what I read online, you want a stationary wheel for real jogging.

The BOB Revolution (I think that's the right name) has a wheel that can lock, so it swivels when not jogging, stationary when you are. But I don't think it's really recommended for hard-core runners or anyone running off a well paved area.

  • If I could do it all over, I would have totally skipped the snap n go and went straight to a BOB Revolution with the accessory bar to insert an infant seat.

It's an excellent stroller for jogging because you can lock the front wheel.  When the wheel is unlocked, it's super manueverable for walks around the neighborhood, going to the zoo, stores, etc.

    LOVE IT!!!!

Typically this is the case, the tracking on the swivel wheels is horrible(meaning the stroller almost needs an alignment when you are running and it's a PITA). The Bob Revolution evidently doesn't have this problem with their swivel wheel, I have a number of friends that have this stroller for their primary as well as running and they all love it. its not a lighter one but they do take it on their day to day errands.

  • The BOB is a lightweight jogging stroller.  I'm planning to get the Snap n Go, and a BOB.  I'm looking at the Britax Companion for my infant seat.  I figure that will work.

    Weights are as follows:

    • BOB Revolution = 23 lbs
    • Snap N Go = 12 lbs
    • Britax Companion = 10 lbs

Compared with a standard travel system at 45 lbs.

  • Thanks everyone! We're not heavy joggers - just in nice weather and a few times a week but it sounds like the BOB Revolution is really good. I am glad it's a lighter one too because I just have tons of sporting stuff to go to with my son and it'll just make life easier.

  • Val- We registered for the Jeep Limited something something jogger which we really liked. The best part was that it could hold the infant seat which we registered for (Chicco 35), that way you get the best of both worlds, a lighter weight stroller which can double as a travel system.
