Clicky poll: Sharing your chosen baby name?

Re: Clicky poll: Sharing your chosen baby name?

  • We haven't totally settled on a name yet (getting closer) BUT we're keeping it to ourselves.  People are SO opinionated (my mother mostly) that it's just easier to not hear it.  Besides, I'm a teacher and my husband is an assistant principal so there are SO many names that were out of the running making it even tricker to find one that both of us like.  And I kind of like having a little secret :)

I wish I hadn't told anyone, but since I told some people, I decided to tell everyone.
My mom's friend keeps picking on his name, saying I'm naming him after a colon.  His name is Collin!

So think twice before you share your baby names!!!!!

I really like the name Collin! It was on my list, but DH kept associating it with someone he knew.

  • We aren't selecting the final name until the end. I tell people our list who I either want their honest opinion, or I trust will give me a favorable reaction. If there is a chance they'll not tell me what I want to hear then I play coy.
  • I said yes everyone, but it's mostly so they know that those names are off-limits in the case of family and super closer friends. Luckily Mathilda isn't topping the charts right now.

  • we are using family names and i figured why wait to share? especially if waiting meant that someone in the family might use the name before we could. specifically, my sister and i started ttc at the same time. the first and middle name we chose for a girl are the first names of my paternal and maternal grandmothers. so, if my sister wanted to use family names too, it was important that she know that we wanted to use that name.

  • I am only telling "The bump" until DS is born.  Than everyone will know.

  • Not telling a soul.  We told everyone that it's a girl...that's as much as they're getting.  I really don't want to hear peoples' two cents about the name we've chosen.  We like, we have our reasons for picking it...and that's all that matters! Big Smile
