So, I lease my car and I am really worried now that car seats may damage leather seats. Is this true? Do the protectors actually work? If so, what kind do you recommend?

Honestly, I've never heard of this happening. Then again, I've personally never used a car seat in my car for 3 years. My sister has and all her cars have been a-ok!
DH has leather seats in his car and so far we have not noticed any damage from DD's carseats. She was in the infant carrier, then switched to a convertible around 10 months. Last year we moved to her a Britax Frontier. So we have had the seats in and out to see where they have been - so far so good!
We have had the carseat in our cars with leather for 2 years now with no damage. The only thing that happened is when DD got bigger and was still rear facing her shoes would get the back of the seat dirty but nothing a wet towel couldn't clean up, you just want to stay on top of it so that the dirt doesn't get grimmed in.
