I have a wicked sinus infection that refuses to go away. I've tried pretty much everything. Humidifiers, Neti pots, Vicks, nothing helps. I'm afraid all my OB is going to do is prescribe antibiotics but I'm not sure how I feel taking them while pregnant. I don't know what's worse, taking them or not.
Anyone taking antibiotics?
Re: Antibiotics
Just mentioned to your PCP that you are pregnant - I am pretty sure there are pregnancy safe antibiotics that will help!
Sorry you feel so blah.
i have a really bad cold and i know that if i could just take some antibiotics it would go away instantly and then i wouldn't be here up to my elbows in tissues and cough drop wrappers...however, i'm with you, i'm not sure how i feel about taking antibiotics...i talked to my dr ad ob and they both said they would never prescribe anything that would harm the LO...so i guess it is just a personal choice! i'm still on the fence...
hope you feel better though!
Colds are viral. All you would accomplish is antibiotic resistance
If it is in fact a cold, then yes, the PP is correct. However, if it is an infection, than it is important to get rid of it. I have had two sinus infections since pregnancy. I waited and waited them out, and finally it got so bad I couldn't take it anymore--it was definately an infection. I was put on Amoxicillin both times (once when I was only 10 wks) and the second time when I was 15 and the baby is just fine. There are safe drugs out there..Cat B's.
sorry i forgot to mention in my original post but i do have some sort of bronchial infection....but thank you for your input...
