2nd Trimester

Went to BRU today

I had a $25 gift card and I just wanted to use it cause I really don't care for BRU ...so I bought some detergent called Baby Ganics 11.99! (OMG) and I got some baby ganics dryer sheets (6.99) and two boxes of tea for mommies to be I left with $1.00 left on the freakin gift card! I cannot believe that baby detergent costs that much...even the regulars like Dreft, Baby ALL and the others had similar price tags...Idk if I am just naive or if prices have gone up that much, but it is going to cost a fortune to wash this kid's clothing and blankets and stuff geez!

Re: Went to BRU today

  • yeah thats why I wont be using special 'baby' detergents. Ill be using one with no dyes or fragrances in. They are the same.

  • Yeah, you are better off just buying All/Tide/etc that has No Dyes & Fragrances.

BUT - let me just say, Dreft spray will get out any freaking stain. I use it on all of our clothes :)

  • Things at BrU are generally more expensive than if you got the same thing at say, Target.

I'm going to make my own baby safe detergent.

There's a recipe on the EFF blog.

  • My basic HE Tide detergent is about $10.99 per bottle so $11.99 is not too out of the norm but yes I agree that detergent is way too expensive!
  • I used Dreft for DDs clothes until recently because I love the 'baby smell' (we still use Head to Toe for the same reason Embarrassed)  I've noticed though that the Dreft does not get out toddler stains so she is using All Free & Clear now.  I'm still excited that all my washed and put away baby clothes will smell like Dreft though...
