Failed 3HR Gulcose Test?

I failed the pre draw

Passed the 1 hr draw

Failed the 2hr draw

Passed the 3hr draw

Does this mean i fail the whole test?

Re: Failed 3HR Gulcose Test?

  • I think you only have to pass the last draw.  But the fact that you failed the pre draw after fasting is not a good sign.

Did you talk to your doc about it yet??  Usually they don't tell you individual pass/fail times, just the overall result.

  • I think if I remember correctly, that if you fail any part you are considered GD.  Sorry, I know all about failing that test.  I have 4 times now, with each pregnancy.  I am already testing my sugar regularly.  Good Luck.  If you are just borderline, it isn't a really big issue, just watch what you eat.
  • It's been over two years since I took the three hour with DD, but I think that if you fail more than one draw you fail the test. I failed at least one of them with DD and still passed.

Why didn't you ask them while you were there?

  • If you failed 2 out of 4, that would mean GD.

The lab did the tests and they can't comment. I just had the what is normal guidelines from my last GD test done a month prior.

  • I failed 2 draws too on my last pregnancy and they considered me GD. Actually my Dr. said it was "Carbohydrate intolerance?" but they treated it the same way.

  • Fail more than one and it is GD.
