What is your favorite thing about being a single parent?
Mine is definitely that I get to see all of Aubrey's firsts and I don't feel like I need to consult anyone about what is in her best interest if I don't want to.

I'm not technically a parent yet, but I think its awesome I get to make all the decisions. My sister is going through a hard time right now because her husband has different ways of disciplining their children than she does. They are always bumping heads on punishments (they aren't beating the kids or anything). I got to pick out my sons name and I will raise him how I want to. I think thats pretty much the best thing. And just like OP said I get to witness all his first!!!

I can't believe I didn't put that in my post. This this this!!
I am glad that X has told me he wants me to make all decisions regarding LO. I don't have to consult him about the school I want to send her too, or what sports she can play or how to discipline her. She will grow up in the religion I am a part of until she can make her own decisions about her faith.
I get to do whatever I want whenever i want. I got to decide on the babies name, what hospital to deliver at, how *I* wanted things to be. Now I get to be selfish and enjoy everything Liam does and be the most important person in his life!
Oh it's definitely the fact that I don't need to consult others before making a decision about what to do with my son.
of course, people judge (I'm still in awe of how much mothers judge each other, or even just random strangers). But I get to say "hello...he's my son. I make the decisions." And that totally rocks because I honestly do feel like I know my kid, and I know what works best for us.

Yep - X actually ASKS me how I want shiit done during the visits. It's GREAT.
Mine is just enjoying so much time with DS. I don't think that it would be as enjoyable with XH because he is such a douche. There is peace and no fighting and DS and I have a simple little life. I also enjoy spending time with my other mommy friends who are single too. We have a very close-knit relationship because we are all going through the same thing. And I enjoy how it is making me a stronger, better person to be doing it on my own.

My favorite thing about being a single parent is the special relationship that my son and I have that NO ONE can duplicate. DS will never have that with the Oxygen Waster. And i love that he makes me feel like the most important person in his life without even trying. . .he just makes my heart melt.

Not having to consult anyone else - I got to pick the names and make all my own decisions without having to talk it over with anyone else.
Can I also say getting the whole bed to myself?
