Hi Ladies,
I was new to this board as of Monday. I was put on bed rest after having contractions 3 min apart. Well, last Thursday I continued to have contractions, 7 in an hour. I went to L&D that night and after 2 shots of tam they didn't stop so I was placed back on mag. Apparently my body doesn't know what that means. After increasing mag to 4g an hour my body went into full on labor, cervix dilating from 1 cm to about 5 or 6 in 30 min. My contractions go so bad that I could barely handle them. Baby boy was breach, so after a call into the doctor he decided to do an emergency c-section.
Mr. William James was born at 12:45am on 3/13. He weighed 4 lbs 2 oz and 17.25 inches long. He is beautiful and is practically breathing on his own (thanks to steroids given last week). He is in NICU for now, but we may be able to hold him in a few days.
It's so odd how quickly this all has happened. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. I know our little man won't go home right away, but that means I have time to recover w/out taking care of an infant 100% of the time. Now my family is pulling together to buy stuff for the baby. I was not prepared for any of this.
Just wanted to let you ladies know that even though my little man was born at 32 weeks, he is doing so good and I am confident that everything will be fine. Modern medicine is incredible.
Re: Baby Came at 32 weeks!
Mikaela is going to have a little brother!
Congrats on your baby boy! I had a 32 weeker as well, and they catch up really fast. He was on the CPAP for 12 hours and then moved to room air. His main issue in the NICU was just to learn to nipple. He is now almost 2 and runs around like crazy! Enjoy this special time and like you said, get some rest!
My only regret from the NICU is that we didn't push breastfeeding. I started exclusively pumping and bottle feeding my son because I just wanted him home ASAP. I wish I had at least tried because exclusive pumping was a pain after a while.
Congrats, Mama! Glad to hear he's doing well and I hope he gets to go home soon!
