I started getting them at 18 weeks. I got 4 or 5 a day. They feel like my insides are tightening up and then release a few seconds later. No pain, its just uncomfortable for a minute. If you drink more water they sometimes slow down a bit. I went from 5 or 6 a day to 2 or 3 this week by drinking more water. My dr isn't concerned as long as I don't get more than 4 in an hour...

I started feeling them about 21 weeks...it feels like a strong, tightening feeling in my lower stomach and the muscles it rock hard for about 15-20 seconds and then it stops...like some of the PPs said, it doesn't hurt it's just uncomfortable and depending on how strong they are it may take your breath away for a second...and I would feel them sometimes 2-3 times a day and sometimes not at all...it's died off a lot though...
I'm 26 wks today and have been feeling them occasionally for the past month... I'd say they've picked up in the past week or so and I feel them sporadically a few times a day now. Just a tightening in my abdomen; my belly is considerably firmer to the touch. Not painful at all.
I've been feeling them since 16-17 weeks. I probably get about 4/day. They feel like a tightening of the stomach area...usually lasts about 30s or less.

I'm not 26 weeks yet, but I assume what I've been having are BHs as well. They've been coming on and off, about 3 times an hour and last about 30 seconds a piece. My belly gets really hard and tight and feels uncomfortable, then goes away.

Re: 26 weekers & Braxton hicks
I had a couple yesterday and a couple just now in the shower.
It feels like my stomach is spontaneously tightening and it makes it a little hard to take a breath.
