2nd Trimester

Quick VBAC birth story if you're interested (bit long)

I just had to share because I couldn't believe what a small world it is!!  My doula was telling me on Wed. night that she was on call for a client that is a week late and who would be having a VBAC.  Well yesterday after my 24 week appt. my midwife told me to take a drive over to the hospital and have them give me a tour of the Birthing Center since I hadn't seen it yet.

DH and I went over to the hospital and while on the tour, someone slipped into a room quickly and shut the door behind her.  Well, while the door was open I could hear some poor woman working REALLY hard in there and it somewhat shook me a bit seeing as how the halls were so quiet.  I knew it was anything but quiet behind that door!!  I sent an email to my doula this morning giving her an update from my appt and mentioned that we went on the tour and heard a woman in the middle of her labor.  She was so shocked and called me to tell me that she was in there with her client!!

Here's this brave woman's birth story... She called my doula at 2am and sd she was heading to the hospital because she was having contractions 5 mins apart.  She managed to go med-free until she got to 9cm and requested the epidural which for her was what she needed as she was exhausted.  She had her epi and slept for two hours until she was completely dialated.  Around 4pm she started pushing.  My doula and her Midwife worked SO hard with her doing all kinds of positions.  She even said the midwife was on the floor at one point with a flash light so she could see what was going on because the woman needed to be in the squatting position for a bit.  At 7:30pm, she delivered her baby boy vaginally and is up and moving around today with a big smile on her face.  My doula felt very confident that if she was under any other practitioners care, they would have sent her in for the c-section hours before she ended up successfully doing it herself.

Just goes to show that with a great team working with us, not against us... even the impossible, can be possible!

Thanks for listening!!
