With celebrities or people in your past?  I do this all the time and it has made settling on a girls name quite the challenge.

I do if it will help me dissuade my husband on a name I dont like but every name I like he has someone that he knows with it and doesn't want to use it.

Ugh yes! It was such a pain at first picking a name because everything was "no we can't name him that because it reminds me of...." so annoying! haha

I do but I figure that once I meet our baby then I will mostly associate that name with them. For instance, my cousin named her daughter Melissa. There was a girl I went to school with named that and I couldn't stand her so I was less than thrilled to find out that was their daughter's name. But now, 4 years later, I only think of cute little Melissa when I think of the name.

I do this. That's why when we found out we were having a girl, I told my husband that we will not name her any of his ex's names.

Yup - usually with past students - and it's ruined lots of names (after almost 10 years of teaching!!)
