What do you do to keep yourself busy during the day? I left my job a few months ago and was somehow keeping myself busy with things to do around the house and helping my fiance with his business. I joined a prenatal yoga class, but it is only on Thursday nights. I'm at a lose of what to do to keep busy? Any suggestions? Please only constructive comments...
Re: Unemployed moms to be..
Well at first i unpacked the house (we moved to be closer to family at 24 wks and i stopped working then), then i had christmas to shop for/get ready.
Now, watch tv, bump, play with the dog, read, go out with my parents about once a wk, (DH works 12 hr days when he works). Its a little boring, but just remember this boring, all you time has a end. So then i dont feel so bad about being lazy.
Add in working out and this is EXACTLY what I do. haha. Nice to know I'm not the only one! My DF wakes up at 6 am and works all day and night...
I "retired" a year ago, and need to have something going on. I'm taking classes for my masters (online), I took a ballet class before, trained for a marathon, and do a teeny bit of volunteering. I would recommed getting involved in anything, just to get out of the house regularly and do adult things.
I also have a constant craft project, and cook and clean all the time, and jump at the chance to watch my neighbors' kids.
this! try learning to knit maybe... it's actually not very hard and you'll save a ton not buying all the super-cute hats on etsy if you can make them yourself. volunteering was another good suggestion... i started mentoring a child last year before we conceived and she's really excited for us! we see movies and go to the city together and the program has a lot of cool events. i'm hoping to keep that up after the baby comes and it seems doable once or twice a month.
clean, cook real meals instead of quick ones, hang out with my dogs, go out to my girlfriends houses (once a week or so). Today im going out shopping in about an hour. honestly i love having some time to myself now because i know once baby comes there will be a loooong time before i get to veg out. once the contracters do the nursery/guest bed i will organize it and decorate the two rooms, we are gutting it down to the beams and re-doing it 100%.
I'm un-employed by not my choice. Lay offs.
I watch a lot of baby stories on tv, movies, Facebook, the bump, play with my dog, clean the house every 2-3days (nothing extreme, but enough to make it look nice), go for short walks to the post office and store, read the paper, scrapbooking for baby, and when I can go to the movies but only if my BIL is working b.c I get in free. lol.
I get DH off to work in the morning and enjoy a nice relaxing breakfast. Pick up the house from the night before and do any cleaning or laundry that needs to be done. Catch up on my shows on the DVR. Run any errands outside of the house. Maybe squeeze in an afternoon nap. Start planning dinner.
It goes fairly fast for me. DH doesn't leave for work until 8:30ish and is sometimes home by 4 so the day goes fast. There are days when I am bored but I know I will not have these quiet days in 4 short months!
