how to say No thank you without sounding Hurtful

A friend has said she wants to throw me a baby shower Nice idea right except this is my third I dont want people to bring gifts sooo the question  is how do I say lets wait till the baby gets here that way people dont feel like they have to give gifts yet again without sounding hurtful

  • Just tell her that you were reading about a "meet the baby party" where you have a get together after the baby is born, would she be interested in doing that for you because you'd LOVE to have one....

  • That sounds great I ll through that out there!
  • You could ask her to throw you a diaper shower.  That way you can just have the party and you're not really getting gifts, but people will feel like they are giving you something useful....and again, a reason to celebrate/party :-)

This is a cute idea.  Or, maybe she could just throw a "sprinkle" with your very close and friends and family and not a full-on shower.  I do see the dilemma, though, typically showers are a little tacky after the 1st child.  Also, the meet the baby party is a good idea.
