Baby shower dress

I'm having my shower at 26 weeks, since my family and friends live in CT and I need to fly home for the event. I've looked online EVERYWHERE. Where did or will you buy your outfit? Note, I'm also a fan of cute skirts. Any suggestions for a cute dress under $50?? TIA!

Re: Baby shower dress

  • Have you checked Motherhood Maternity? I like their stuff and it's very decently priced.

  • Old Navy isn't bad and their stuff won't break the bank.  Motherhood Maternity is a little more spendy, but I like their stuff too.  I got my baby shower dress from Motherhood Maternity.  GL!  :-)

  • My dress is Motherhood Maternity. I fortunately found it at a second-hand shop so it only cost me $7! Good luck on your search. You also might want to check Target.

  • Tracy, that's the dress I like best! Have you worn it? Does it run small or actual size?

  • Gap has a few cute dresses for spring.  I picked one up last week for a wedding that we're attending next month.  If it still fits when I have my shower I'll probably wear it again.  But we'll have to see how big I've gotten by then!  :-o

Try this site.. They have a lot to choose from under $50 and I think it's only $6 shipping. Besides that site, I found a really awesome dress at Burlington Coat Factory that was really cute and fit perfect for $6.99!

  • Last weekend I tried on a bunch of dresses from Motherhood and they all looked like I was just wearing a sac. It was aweful. The dress in my siggy is from Motherhood and the only one I like (worn to a wedding). I ended up buying a pair of maternity skinny jeans and a tunic and felt like it was much more flattering.

I originally bought this dress from Motherhood but sent it back after I tried in on. It looked aweful.

  • This might be too basic to count as "cute" but I loooooove this Gap maternity wrap dress; I have it in blue. It is really comfortable and so flattering. I get compliments on it every time I wear it.

I have this one, too, and was planning to wear it to the shower. It's really flattering!

  • I was just in Target yesterday and they had some really cute dresses.  I just glanced online and didn't see them posted.

I got this one at Motherhood for my shower at the end of the month.  I figured I could wear it w/ a cardigan if it's too cold for sleeveless.  It was on sale for $30.

I have that onw in Navy and also a pink floral. They are cute and fit well...

Just an observation I have made at showers...the mommies in skirts and short dresses seem to struggle opening/reaching for gifts and keeping their legs closed/crossed (hello peep show)...so I think I am going to opt for a pair of golf shorts, a silk top and heels.

ETA: I have that pink one that the above poster said she did not like...it fits me wonderfully. Also, I forgot to answer your question... the outlet portion of Belly Dance is awesome. My friend got a Christian Serriano (sp) dress there for $60 from $350ish...

  • Thanks ladies! Maybe I'll find a dress that'll look cute with black leggings, so as not to provide a peep show!

  • I got an amazing knit dress at a J.Crew outlet this weekend.  It's strapless and folds over at the top or can be folded down as a skirt OR you can unfold the top and it's longer in the torso: perfect for pregnant ladies!  I tried it on and it was so comfy and so perfect.  I will probably wear a cardigan so I can wear a more supportive bra.  Only $29 (then of course I had to buy the adorable matching belt for $12 more, but still that's not a bad price for an outfit!)  And my favorite part is that I can still wear it no problem after the baby is born!
