Animals and baby bumps...

Ok, most of us have fur babies... how do they react to your bump? Mine tend to walk on/sleep on/ headbutt mine because they can't figure out WTF it came from LOL. My older cat is currently using it for a pillow while he sucks on his dew claw.

Re: Animals and baby bumps...

  • My dog curls up on my belly, if the baby kicks then my dog will groan and move to my side...clearly annoyed.

  • Since I sleep on my side now, my puppy always curls up right at my belly, like he's protecting it. He hasn't felt her kick him yet, though. I can't wait to see his reaction when she does.

  • All 3 of my cats fight on who's going to lay on my stomach.  I think it's funny because they never did this before and I don't really even have a big bump yet.

  • My dog seems to hate it.  He used to curl up and spoon in front of my belly but now can't do that very well.  He seems to jump on it quite a bit too.  Luckily he's only 10 pounds but that still doesn't feel the greatest.  As of now he is my little baby and I think he's getting jealous b/c he knows what is going on.

  • My male cat hasn't noticed or doesn't care. My female cat however can't get enough. She's always with me now and wants to sleep on my tummy. It's too cute but sometimes she's too warm.
  • the dog lays next to my belly every night. But if LO flips or moves he freaks out and tiffs(it' a daushaund thin!) It's really funny. Can't wait til big kicks so he freaks out more!

My cat has been doing the same thing - and he NEVER rested on my stomach in the past. It is the weirdest thing. He did this starting early in my pregnancy (before a visible bump) and continues to do it. The only thing I can think of is that he senses something (bloodflow, movement, who knows what) when he lays on top of it. It seems crazy, but I can't think of any other reason why he would do this.
