I am 24 weeks and I have not gained that much weight. I understand I am very tiny and have been my whole life but I am worried I will go into premature labor because I have not gained the weight they want me to. I am 5'3 and 104lbs pre-pregnancy now I am 115 lbs. Am I worried for nothing?
Re: I am worried I am not gaining enough weight.
I'm 27 weeks and I too am worried if I'm gaining enough weight. I'm 5'8 and was 147 pre-pregnancy and I'm only 155 now. I lost 7lbs during my first trimester, but they only count your pre-pregnancy weight as your lowest weight. My doc says I'm fine and measuring the way I should and I should just keep doing what I'm doing and eat as much as I can. So, that's what I'm doing. What does your OB say??
that is plenty to gain!! Talk to your doctor. I am 5'4.5 and started pregnancy at 109. I am 23 weeks tomorrow and have gained 4 pounds.
The baby is measuring fine, my doctor actually said she thought it was wonderful and healthy to not be packing on the pounds and that in reality there is no need for most people to gain more than 15 pounds. She said it is perfectly healthy to gain up to 40, but that gaining less has nothing to do with pre-mature labor.
The baby takes what it needs. As long as you are eating a healthy diet that has the minimum calories required for hte stage of pregnancy you are in and the baby is measuing and developing normally, count your lucky stars!!!
I hope and pray my luck continues and I personally will be thrilled if I am blessed enough to gain less than 20 through 40 weeks (although I know statistically this is not likely to happen and I will likely gain more and I am ok with that too).
