So we never got one to use with my stepsons so its been about 7 years since I've had the original diaper genie. What is the best one on the market now??

I tried to figure this out...but it seemed like all the ones at BRU had half awesome reviews and half terrible reviews. I picked the Munchkin one because it had cheaper refills than the Diaper Genie.
Bar tab = $156,000, Bus to Foxwoods = $0, Puking in the Stanley Cup = Priceless

Thats its exactly my problem. None of them have stellar reviews.

to me no diaper pail will keep it perfectly fresh in baby's room. We never got one with ds--we use cloth part time--but eventually got a diaper champ. Its ok, still smells every so often...but it takes reg trash bags, which I like. I think diaper genies are a pain.

we got the Diaper Champ mainly because it got similar reviews to the others but I didn't have to remember to have special refills for it. It was fine until DS was about 15 months. Then, not sure if it was the toddler poop or that seals were breaking down but it didn't contain odors well anymore.
From what I can tell the people who have had the most success w/stink free diaper pails haven't used them for poopie diapers (they've just put those straight into the regular trash or outside trash).
We like our Diaper Champ. It worked great for all diapers until a little after a year and now it works fine as long as we don't put stinky diapers in there. Those go straight to the garage trash.
We used the Diaper Champ since there were no specail refills needed for it. We only used it for maybe 3 months? We produce enough trash as a household that it needs to go out everynight anyways, so we just use the kitchen trash can for diapers now. We put stinky ones in plastic bag to help reduce the smell.
We had the Diaper Dekor with DD 3 years ago...it was okay. I don't think any of them keep baby's room odor-free. We aren't using one this time around. But if I were to choose one, it would be the Diaper Champ simply because you can use regular trash bags and you don't have to but over-preiced refills.

I CANNOT believe I've never thought of this!!! :-) Thanks!

This, too. Now that she's not changed as frequently we take her diapers to the outside trash. We're CD #2 so we're going to use a simple pail.

I have to agree. We loved the Dekor

We had the diaper genie. I hated it. We're not going to get one this time, it was more of a hassle than anything.
