HELP!?! soooooo confused :(

Hi,

I'm starting to do my research for my registry and I have no idea what bottles to go with every review I read about each different brand confuses me even more :( What bottles do you girls think are the best & why.

This is what other mom's have told me which confuses me even more:

Dr Browns: great bottles but too many pieces to clean

Avent: leak

Playtex VentAir: leak

Playtex Fill In's: bags warp easily

Born Free: ????

Thanks in Advance

Evelyn

  • I used the playtex drop-ins and will use them again.  I loved them.  The bags were so easy b/c they were disposable.  I do think they helped reduce gas.  I never had warping issues with them.

Honestly, you can always get one and if your LO doesn't like it, switch to a different one.  I tried the Dr Browns ones b/c everyone seemed to like them, but they were horrible for DD - I mean like projectile spit-up, but I know they work well for most people!!

  • I used Dr. Browns with my DS and they were great for him. They do have a lot of pieces though.

  • We used Evenflo Classic. No extra pieces, and i didn't have any leaking problems!
  • my favorite were the avent bottles, but back in 08 they didnt make them BPA free so i went with born free and dr. browns. have no complaints on either of these 3 brands. dr. browns does have an extra piece to clean but its not to say they arent great bottles.

  • I use the Play-tex drop bags and I love them and will use them for the next baby.
  • i used the drop ins and will use them with the next baby. no leaking, easy to use, but i like the nipple shape. The nipples have a wide more natural shape which I liked since my twins were breastfed. I did feel guilty about the extra waste the bags created (my sister is an atmospheric chemist so things like that make me feel guilty), but clean up was a breeze since the only thing you have to worry about really cleaning well was the nipple and the ring.
  • I used the Born Free with DS and I love them. In fact, I still use them because you can switch the nipple to a sippy cup nipple so you can use them as sippy cups. I will also be using Born Free when baby #2 arrives. I have never had a problem with them.

This, and once Avent came out with the BPA free bottles, we traded old for new. I would have a leak maybe once every two weeks or so but only due to my own fault by not putting the bottle together properly. An easy fix...

I would also try a few brands out once baby gets here because you never know exactly what bottle your baby will take to.

  • I used the Dr. Brown's and gas was never an issue for us.That is what they are known for...the extra pieces are valves that keep air out. Washing them was no biggie...I threw them in the dishwasher.

I am going to use them again (well, new ones...I had to replace all of mine because of the BPA thing)..

We used the playtex dropins and had no problem. Not even 1 bag warped. Plus they are ok in price and there is always a coupon available. ;)

  • I used Born Free with my son and will be using Born Free again with baby #2. We had an issue at first with the level 1 nipples leaking so I used level 1 Dr. Browns nipples, but no problems at all with level 2 or 3.
I tried playtex drop-ins but wasn't a big fan of the process with the bags.

  • i use dr. browns too. yeah. lots of parts, but like ANJ, i  just got the baskets for the dishwasher and throw them in there every night. no biggie.
  • I used Born Free and loved them. Never leaked or anything & she never had any issues with gas, etc. She took to them right away too. I've packed them away and plan to use them with my next baby (with new nipples).

  • I used Playtex drop-ins and never had a warping issue.  We also never had any gas problems.  I did love the convenience of the product, but did have a little guilt over the wastefulness.  But obviously not too much since I would use it again.
  • Thank you all very much :)
