Sooooo ... I bought this potty ... its pretty, and new, and is sitting in our garage right now because I took it out of the box and for the life of me I have absolutely no idea wtf to do with it/how to introduce it to Jack.
You have not failed! My mom bought one for her house and sat in the bathroom and K just 'knew' what to do. She'll sit on it and hold the toilet paper...won't go yet though. I still have yet to get one for our house
LOL, we just put Hadley's in the bathroom and ask her if she wants to sit on it. She usually doesn't and when she does she wants to sit on it in her diaper and pants. I figure someday she'll express more interest.
I am befuddled though, I could have sworn that I got a potty that you recommended once?!?! Maybe I hallucinated that...
I just put it ont he floor at bathtime and let her play with it. She finally got the concept. When he pees in it/around it/on it the first time the key is to start screaming, clapping and going crazy. then whenever she (er he) goes pee he'll say "Dance mommy! dance I go potty!"
I put it in the bathroom and DH asked DS if he wanted to go potty with him and he gets excited. He will only let Dad take his pants off, has to keep his diaper on, and he will sit on it why dad pretends to potty too. He thinks it's fun and will even pretend wipe with tp and toss it in. When I get him naked he freaks out so I stopped. Someone told me it would discourage him more.
So for now it's a fun daddy and son game. Thats as far as we got.
I am not sure about boys, but here is what I do with DD. We put her potty in the bathroom. She would follow me in there everytime I would go to the bathroom and she would sit (usually with her diaper and pants on). Then, one day, she wanted to sit with her pants and diaper off. Now, everytime I go, she will sit with her pants off. Sometimes she goes pee, sometimes she doesn't...I don't push it. When she is on there she has potty books that she reads. When she does go I give lots of smiles and praise. I have no idea if what I am doig it right, but that is what we are doing here. HTH!!!

I just sat him on it after bathtime when he's naked. Now he goes and gets it himself and has gone potty a couple of times. Most of the time he's just hanging out on it, but he's used to it and not scared of it, so that's good.
just put it in the bathroom, show it to DS and ask him every now and then if he wants to use the potty. Let him watch you go to the bathroom. DS watched MH go Sunday and then wanted to go on his own potty. he hasn;t used it since then but it there in case he wants to.

I just put it in the bathroom next to the big potty and everytime i went to go i had DD come in too and i said mommy's going peepee, and would show her, her potty and like everyone else said, she started with her diaper on then she got comfortable and didnt mind, and now she will go potty on it... I have since bought the little cushion that goes on a reg potty to try to get my DD to start going on a regular size toilet

We have one that was in the bathroom & Lauren pulled it out into the living room. She will get naked & sit on it & either read a book or swing her legs..but won't go. I KNOW it is getting time to do it, because on Sunday she was taking off her diaper & trying to wipe her butt with a wet wipe whenever she went to the bathroom.
Re: So, how does one 'introduce the potty' exactly?
