High-Risk Pregnancy

Got to get out of bed...to go to ER...but not for me...

Yesterday my 3yr old was taking a nap in his room, next to mine. It was about time for him to wake up so my mom came up here to my room. We were talking and all of a sudden we heard two horrifying screams. She ran in there and I jumped out of bed. He was having a seizure. I ran back to get my phone and called 911. He was unresponsive.

So, we ended up going to ER by ambulance. They suspect he had a febrile seizure. Apparently he had a fever that shot up too high, too quickly. Dr says it happens in children 5mos - 5yrs. They sent us home and told us to give him tylenol and ibuprofen to keep the fever down.

Of all things to happen while I'm on bedrest! Thankfully he is ok now, slept next to us in bed last night and had no seizures.

To make matters worse, my legs are killing me! Being on bedrest for 8 weeks and then jumping out of bed and running around frantically is not good for your muscles. We were afraid I would go in to labor, but I haven't!

  • Thanks everyone. I'm so glad he's ok too. Praying that will never happen again!
  • Thank God your mother was there! Glad your little one is OK? Tylenol only huh? Did they say to get a follow up apt with his Dr? The good thing about calling 911 is you get right into the hospital with out having to "check in" at the front desk of the Er....
  • That is so scary!!!!  I'm glad your son is ok, though, and that you didn't go into labor.  Wow, I really don't know how I would have handled that...

He had a follow up with his dr today. Tylenol or ibuprofen when ever he has a fever is the plan. She said she wants to do a CT scan if he was again since he had a very high brain bleed when he was born.
