Intense Pain (TMI) *Update*

I'm not really sure what to do. Lately at night if I have a full bladder I start getting this pain on my lower right side that extends around to my back. It's especially bad if I accidentally sleep on my back.  It's even worse if I am at all constipated. Usually the pain subsides after I get up in the morning. So this morning I woke up with an intense stabbing pain in my side. It hurt all down my side and back, down to my thigh. I thought going to the bathroom would give me some relief, but it hasn't. If I sit still I'm fine, but when I move around it comes back.

I don't really know what to do. I feel stupid calling the doctor if this is just a case of constipation or gas. Also, I wouldn't know who to call. Is it a baby related thing and should I call my OB? That's really the only regular doctor I see. The last time I saw a regular doctor was last year so I don't know if they would get me in right away. I guess I'm asking, WWYD?

*Update* After calling and being told it was RLP, I called again when the pain got worse. They had me come in and it seems like I might have a UTI. I was also sent for bloodwork to rule out appendicitis. On the plus side I did get to see our LO rolling around. She went ahead and did an U/S to check my bladder. She said she couldn't see it at all, which was strange. The baby is sitting very low and is mostly on my right side so that could be adding to my discomfort.

  • I don't think you should ever feel stupid about calling the doc over something when you're PG!  YES, definitely call!  At least for the peace of mind!  And I would definitely call the OB first-your regular doc would probably refer you to the OB anyway. I hope they can help you out and that the pain goes away for you.

  • Definitely call your OB. Could be nothing, could be a UTI (they are sneaky in pregnancy), but you want to get checked out for sure. No reason to suffer!

  • Ok, I called. The nurse seemed to think it was round ligament pain which can me aggravated by needing to go to the bathroom. Not much I can do about it. :(
  • Drinking more water and wearing a pg tummy belt has helped my round ligament pain.

    Sorry you are hurting.

  • I'm glad you called your doctor.  I have totally called and talked to someone with most of my questions.  They've heard/seen it all and I'd much rather risk them thinking I'm being paranoid than missing something important.   I hope that it's  UTI and nothing more.
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.
