Oh DH.. (shaking head)

Ok.. so when I got home from work last night.. I was on his case a little..I am frustrated that he and his mother both refuse to feed Eve table foods, so she eats purees with them.. Not a big deal in the long run, but half the time she refuses to eat them, so he heated them for her last night.. And then when I left for work yesterday at 5 I KNEW Eve needed a 2nd nap.. and he and his mother were unsuccessful in having her take one (they will not let her cry at all) ..

So he says to me.. "Well you didn't even tell me good job.." and I said.. Good job for what?

He said.. "Well, do you see any dirty bottles anywhere?" Apparently looking for a pat on the back on washing the bottles.. So I sort of rolled my eyes at him and told him thanks for washing the bottles (cuz its not like i do that EVERY SINGLE DAY or anything.. )

Um.. I just got up and looked in the sink.. All the bottle nipples (We use drop ins, that's really the only part that needs to be washed!) are still sitting dirty in the sink! So he didn't even wash them.. just disassembled and put in the sink.

Re: Oh DH.. (shaking head)

  • how frustrating.  Why won't they give her table food?
  • Haha, I hear you on that when they do something and look for a pat on the back.  I praise big time if I get home from work and find that DH swept or made dinner or something.  It happens rarely, but I appreciate when it does.  But then sometimes I get to thinking ... how come on my days off from work I get all the cleaning done and dinner and take care of the baby, and you do maybe one thing all week while taking care of the baby and it is a big deal.  He said once how he feels like a 1930's house wife since he is home taking care of Elizabeth all day.  I was like, um no bc then that would make me the husband and when I walk in the door instead of being handed the baby and making dinner and cleaning up, I would get to sit down to a nice dinner and relax for the rest of the night.

  • Lol. My mom babysat J the other day and took like 600 pictures. Well when she was showing them to me he has his paci in like 599. At home he is only allowed to have it in his crib and he has to fork it over if he wants to get out. I keep it in his bag for emergencies. I asked if he was crabby and she said, "no, but he was asking for it and I just can't say no"... <grr>

Same thing as you- I'm sure it won't hurt anything in the long run (like purees) but I'm the mom so I'm the boss :)

  • Julie- I think they just don't know what to feed her.. so they don't.. They're just used to giving her jars of baby food.. I don't really even mind.. I have given up on telling them what to feed her.. because its such a gamble as to what she will and won't eat.. But when he told me he heated the carrots for her yesterday because she wouldn't eat them cold it really bugged me for some reason..

He just called and I asked him about the bottles and he said.. "Oh.. I washed off all the bottles. I must have forgotten to do the nipples.. I thought I did (they are definitely not clean!).

  • I do often wonder why we make such a big deal when guys are helpful Fathers!  And I'm one to do this too, but they SHOULD be helpful.  Moms don't ever get a thank you when they wash bottles, do laundry, feed the baby, etc, etc., etc.!!  Men!!
  • I have one of those.  Except he gives the baby sweets or foods he is guaranteed to eat instead of a veggie.

He doesn't do much besides cook to ask for a pat on the back tho lol.

oh my... I would have smacked my DH if he said that to me! Washing the bottles is not that hard to deserve a "good job"!
