Pregnant after a Loss

Explain how bloat works.........

because I'm sick of this crap! lol. I have lost about 7 lbs due to heating super healthy but because of the bloat, I now look like I have gained 7 lbs on top of my pre pg weight!! Grrrr! I have heard and read that cutting back on salt helps (makes sense) and the drinking tons of water helps. The extra water is where I get confused. If a lot of bloat is due to water retention, why would I want to drink more of it if my body likes to store it now? lol. Any and all help/advice is appreciated! Thanks ladies!

  • The salt makes your body hold on to water yes.  Not having enough water doesn't allow your body to properly flush itself.  When you drink more water you can better flush that extra salt out. Does this make sense?

  • What pp said.  Also, I think of it this way: if your body doesn't get enough water, it tries to hold on to what it has (and that turns into bloat).  When you drink enough, your body doesn't try to hold on to it.  And I'm right there with you on the bloat - by the end of the day I look 20 weeks pg.
  • I can't explain it other than to say that during the day it doesn't look like i've gained any weight.  but at night - i look like I'm 5 months.  I feel like a giant freak!
  • Also, your bowels slow to a snails pace so your body can milk every last nutrient out of whatever you eat before you pass it.  So that'll cause some bloat too (and constipation!).

I peed on a stick and immediately gained 3lbs.  It looks like 10.  I feel your pain.
