Sutter, really?!?! (AW for me)

I received a bill last Friday for $200 for a doctor's visit in January. I was still on COBRA through BC and saw a new doctor in the Sutter Roseville Medical group. Insurance paid $75 of the $275 total cost. I was a bit miffed by the cost and the fact that BC didn't pay all of it since it was basically a consultation. All I was there for was for the doc to fill a prescription for Tramadol to help control my occassional back pain. This is an ongoing issue, the last prescription my OB gave me when E was born. I had the old bottle with me and just explained the issues to the new doc. He asked me other meds I was taking and told him about the BCP and hydrocortizone ointment I have. He didn't fill those prescriptions.

Apparently Sutter billed insurance for the visit as a family planning & psoriasis treatment appt. UMMM NO! Those were only discussed because of the meds I am taking.

It took me back and forth with BC and Sutter to get it fixed. Now Sutter is reviewing the acct and should rebill BC correctly. Here is hoping the bill is much less next week when I check on the status. I expect to pay something, but not $200. DH is so proud of me for checking into the bill.

Re: Sutter, really?!?! (AW for me)

  • I hate insurance. It's obscene to me that people have to constantly double-check the charges because of the stupid ways things are keyed/coded.

Good on you for following up!
