Babies on the Brain

I am such a wuss.

It took me 40 min with glucometer and lancet in hand to work up the nerve to stick my finger for my blood sugar.  And another 40 min later my finger is still throbbing.  This is coming from the girl that has given herself a brazillian wax.  What is wrong with this picture?

Re: I am such a wuss.

  • I could never stick myself but I had no issues sticking my kitty when I had to check her blood sugar.  And my dad actually enjoyed sticking us when we checked ours!

  • I have no problem sticking other people either.  Or sticking myself in other places.  I just can't stand the fingers.  They are so sensitive and throb forever.
  • Just a warning for when your baby turns a year.  They have to do a finger poke and squeeze blood out and it's so painful to watch your baby cry due to the pain. :(
  • I don't know how I will handle watching my child have it done.  I had no problem handing the lancet over to DH to test on himself first.  Of course his skin is so thick it didn't even puncture it.
