NPgALR: Who speaks another language?

DH and I took German all through high school and I went on to take it through college. I am almost fluent and we plan on teaching LO German. Anyone else?

Re: NPgALR: Who speaks another language?

  • Funny, I took German from 6th grade through sophomore year of college and can barely remember a thing. I guess if I went to Germany, it'd probably all come back to me.

But no, I've never spoken German to DD and doubt I will with DS. DD learns Spanish at school, so if I could do it all over again, I'd take Spanish since it's much more useful, or French since it's so beautiful.

  • I took Spanish in high school and college. I will definitely be teaching LO spanish. My in-laws are from Mexico and although they've been here for 40 years their English is not that great.

  • We may... we are not sure yet. There are japanese school that we can send LO to and DH is also part Hawaiian. If LO can get into Kamehameha or a Hawaiian immersion school then all of us will have to learn Hawaiian.

  • I grew up speaking English and Spanish in my house.  I also know a smattering of French and Italian.  I plan on teaching LO Spanish.
