WTF? DS getting up at 4:30 every morning lately

For some reason, Liam's been getting up at 4:30, almost on the dot, every morning for the last week or so. I don't get it, and I don't know what to do. It doesn't seem to matter when he goes to bed- he's been getting up at that same time in the morning whether he goes to bed at 6:15 or 7:30. (That's about as early/late as his bedtime ever is.)

WWYD? Let him CIO when he wakes up? (I've been letting him cry for a few minutes, and then I'll go in and give him a drink of water, and put him back down, and then he freaks out again within minutes.) Bringing him to our bed isn't an option- when we do that, he just thinks it's time to play and have fun. Ugh.

  • My ds did that for a while at about your ds's age - I chalked it up to a growth spurt. It lasted about a week or so and then he went back to his regular schedule. There was nothing we could do to get ds back to sleep - but he was "happy" on his own awake for a bit, so that saved us a little!

  • DS went through this a few months ago. I agree with PP, I think it has to do with a growth spurt. This weekend started getting up at 5:30 (usually closer to 6:45) and we've been letting him hang out in his crib until 6 unless he's crying. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a whole lot you can do besides wait it out!

  • Molars? That is what happens when DD teeths. I try to get her back to sleep after giving her some tylenol or motrin, but normally she is just up for the day. Good luck. It didn't last more than a week or two.

  • D is doing this, too.  Yesterday it was 3:15.  We try leaving him in there as long as possible (today he hung out for a half hour before finally screaming for us), but it's frustrating, especially because one day he will sleep until 6, and the next start chatting at 4:15.
