My upstairs freezer I just wipe out. My BIG OLD STANDUP FULL FREEZER in the basement is another story entirely.
I wrap foods in newspaper and put it in coolers. I spread newspaper on the ground and take a hairdryer to it to get all the ice uncrusted. Wipe it out. Dry it again. Plug it back in. Let it run for a half hour or so and then restock it and there ya go.
