Trying to Get Pregnant

I don't know where else to ask this.

I woke up with moderate cramping and eventually started spotting bright red blood. Small clots and all. I used the restroom and had more blood. I'm using a liner now and the cramps are gone.

I took a digital HPT after holding my bladder maybe an hour or so and it came back 'NOT PREGNANT'. I did drink a cup coffee in that time (didn't know I was going to take a HPT).

Should I consider that a CP? I'll still have my second beta tomorrow, but I'm just confused now.

Thanks.

Re: I don't know where else to ask this.

  • No matter what is happening I am sorry you are going through this. I would probably go for my second beta but it does sound like a c/p.
  • Hello love.. I'm sorry about what's going on. Sad I guess the only way to know for sure will be to have that second beta done.. you know what they say, though- hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. ::hugs::

  • I am sorry this is happening to you, and I am hoping it is nothing.

When I saw red blood I rushed off to the ER just because I had no idea what else to do. If you did that then you could get a beta done today so you knew, but whatever you do I would definitely still get the beta tomorrow.

    T&P with you.

  • I am so so sorry you are going through this. Our situations sound very similar, actually. If I remember correctly, you posted yesterday about your low beta number on the first tri board?

My first beta was low too, but my second beta did come back at more than double, which was good. Since then, I have also started bleeding. At first, it was bright red blood, and I braced myself for it to get worse, but it got much much lighter and turned pink/brown after about 12 hours or so. I forced myself to wait until morning to take a digital HPT, and it is still reading "pregnant". Hopefully, the "not pregnant" you got was because you hadn't "held it" long enough.

I was pretty much beside myself when the bleeding started, and I was totally convinced that this pregnancy was over. BUT I am much more hopeful now, as it has not progressed to a regular period. My doctor got me in yesterday for more bloodwork (yay for doctors being there on Saturdays!), and I will find out tomorrow if my hCG levels are still rising.

I know exactly how horrible it feels to see blood, and again, I am really sorry that you're going through this. There is still reason to hope, though. I hope that you and I both get good news tomorrow.

Thanks so much Crisp! I hope your levels are up tomorrow! My bleeding has not turned into a period like flow, but when I use the restroom, there is a DEFINITE presence of red blood and a decent amount at that. We'll see, I guess.

    Good luck tomorrow!!

Thank you! Good luck to you too!

ETA: I had a decent amount of red blood too (ie enough where I definitely needed a pantiliner), and it's now all but stopped, and what's there is brown. So, it may stop!

Crisp - so did your spotting/bleeding start yesterday and it was gone by this morning?

Yes, it started yesterday afternoon as a small amount of bright red blood on the paper when I went to the bathroom. Progressed after a few hours to where I needed the pantiliner (still bright red). By the time I went to bed last night, it was more pink than red, and there was less of it.  This morning, it was brown, still enough for a pantiliner. Now I still see a tiny bit of brown when I go to the bathroom, but nothing on the pantiliner.

I put in a tampon just in case and it barely had anything on there. I'm not going to take another HPT today, so we'll see. But you are definitely giving me a small glimmer of hope.
