back carry in ergo - annoyed

I am about to throw my ergo out the window.  Any tips for getting baby in the back carry position?  I just can't seem to get it.  The video instructions make it seem so easy.  My DD is getting annoyed with me too.

Re: back carry in ergo - annoyed

  • i put the ergo on in the back and put just the left shoulder on.  then i put e on om right hip, lean forward, and move her around to my back.  put on the right shoulder, then adjust.
  • I could never do the hip scoot.  I toss him instead.  With the baby facing you, cross your arms and hook your hands under her armpits.  Then lift up and swing her onto your back (uncrossing your arms will swing her back there).  Flip the panel up and stick your arms through the straps...and bounce a little while holding the shoulder straps.  Sometimes if I don't feel like I got a good seat I'll reach my hands under DS's butt and run my hands up the panel to make sure he's in there.

This is what I do, too. It does take practice. It may be helpful to have your DH "spot" while you do it for the first few times. If not, do it over a bed and with a mirror. It's awkward at first, but it eventually get pretty easy. DD loves the back carry! Hopefully your LO will too!

I am going to have to try this.  I tried the hip scoot a bajillion times and just couldn't do it.  However, my DH helped the last time by just placing her in the carrier and it felt like she was going to tip out backwards.  It was horribly uncomfortable.  Clearly I need to practice.  I think maybe she wasn't seated all the way in.  I have a parade to go to on Saturday - I better practice all week Smile

IF you feel that way you may need to adjust the straps.
